Wolftrap News 

New Reflections Art Program is seeking submissions for the upcoming school year in all grade levels and across all artistic abilities.  Participation in the program is intended to allow students to explore the arts through the 2016-2017 theme, "What Is Your Story?".  Submissions can be made at the front office during summer office hours with final submission in the fall.  Please see the Reflections page for more information or contact reflections@wolftrappta.org.

New Bike/Walk Challenge Week Results. This past week students at seven Vienna area elementary schools took a combined 6473 trips to school by foot, bike, skateboard, and scooter.  1250 of those trips were by bicycle.  That is 4 years in a row where Vienna students have exceeded 5000 trips to school during the Bike/Walk Challenge Week and the second time in four years where over 6000 trips to school were taken.  Wolftrap took 3rd place in the Biking Challenge.  Congrats to all the kids who got some exercise and helped keep the planet green this past week by walking and biking.  The rest of the results can be viewed here.

New Beulah Safety Initiative.  Alison Gramann and Jeff Anderson are forming a committee to discuss how to work with the Virginia DOT and Fairfax County DOT to improve safety conditions on Beulah Road.  Click here for more information.

New Cycle Chi and Wolftrap Elementary "Fit"raiser.  Cycle Chi is a new indoor studio right in the heart of Vienna on Mill street (owned and operated by a Wolftrap Mom!).  Purchase any class pack and use the Promo Code "Wolftrap" and Wolftrap will receive 10% of sales for the month of June.  Please see the attached flyer

New Pick Up Your Student's Medication. The school health room reminds parents/guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school, June 23rd.  Any medication left in the health room after dismissal will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent/guardian and cannot be sent home with your student.  Please note that you can pick up medications at any time, you do not have to wait for the last day.

New C.A.R.E Actor is offering wonderful theater summer camps for kids at James Madison HS during July through Vienna Parks and Recreation.  Act it Out! Summer Camp (Ages 3-6) is offered during 3 sessions.

  • July 5-8th:  9am-12pm

  • July 25-29th:  9am-12pm

New 2 popular summer camps relocating to our area!  Design Your Own Restaurant. For kids 7-13. There are a variety of fun, project based activities, including art, cooking, and filming a commercial ad.  Create Your Own Family Cookbook Camp. For ages 9-13. Learn to "think like a chef" by building, personalizing, and balancing flavors and textures of dishes, not just how to follow recipes.

New Jedi Strings Camp. August 22-26 from 8:30am-12pm. This camp is completely free!  For rising 5th and 6th graders, with the chance to learn new techniques, expand playing ability and meet new friends while playing their favorite themes from Star Wars.  Must have at least 1 year experience playing their instrument.  See flyer for details. 

2016 Warhawk Field Hockey Camp June 20-23rd from 5:30-8:30pm. Camp is open to rising 3rd-9th grade students, regardless of experience.  all levels of play are welcome to come and join.  See flyer for more information or contact Lizzie McManus msmcmanus@fcps.edu (571.233.8587).

Camp Twin Creeks Special Offers for Wolftrap Families! First offer is half price (and all the funds go to Wolftrap PTA!) for Dream Week session for children 6-9. Dream Week is a one week session for our youngest campers that takes place during the second week of a regular session. It's a great opportunity for campers who aren't ready for the full two weeks. Since the value of the session is $1,400, all you need to do is donate a minimum of $700 to Wolftrap PTA. Second offer is $1,000 off regular tuition on a 2 week session for any new camper interested in Twin Creeks this summer. There are no age restrictions.  For every new camper that enrolls from your school, Camp Twin Creeks will also donate $250 to the Wolftrap PTA.  Check out Camp Twin Creeks and help Wolftrap!

Girls Summer Basketball Camp, Learn More.

Fun Bot Lab Robotics & Media Summer Camp is offering an amazing robotics and movie making camp from June 27 - August 19 from 9am-3pm at two different locations.  Wolftrap students will receive a special $25 discount by using the special code (FBLWOLF16).  See the flyer for session dates and locations and register at funbotlab.com. 

Every Kid in a Park offers free a pass to national lands (national parks, forests, etc), for all fourth graders!  This new initiative by the US Department of Interior just started this fall.  Visit the website and claim your free pass:  https://www.everykidinapark.gov/
